To Aruce

Always vigilant and willing to do good for the puppies,
Riesen Stern will be for ever remembered with you,
Under the cherry blossom branches of the castle.
Cherishing your bravery and wisdom will be our blessing,
Each day will be blessed when we wake with you in our hearts.

Tall were the cherry trees along the moat,
High-spirited were you more than any one,
Enabling all the doggies you cared for to shine like stars.

Light-hearted were you when you drew down aruce-san,
Into the gutter down the moat slope.
Gently and slowly you started pulling her up,
Having your nails torn and bleed,
Till you finally got assured that you rescued her,
Eager to do anything you felt you could challenge to.
Nothing daunted you but her reprimanding tone,
In your tranquil and twinkling eyes,
No one could do but surrender oneself to you,
Gazing into your pupils we felt encouraging heart.

Special thanks we all owe to you,
Particularly when you were facing your death,
Ever after we realized we had to give you up,
Engaged was your fighting spirit that was hard to die,
Daring was your soul when you dashed there to meet Reah.

Summer jacket

Having said that I did not feel like sewing, I had to,
since I had got the homework to sew a jacket.

The design was not that good for kimono cloth;
this design needs much wider cloth than kimono.
So, you must be skilled in matching patterns when you
have some cloth with patterns.

I had got a haori silk cloth which I had firstly planned to
make a long waistcoat. The cloth is with no patterns.
So all I had to do was to make it wide enought to
cut and sew.

This is what I've got after struggling for a few days.

To Aruce

Yesterday evening I started writing a piece
for Aruce the boxer.

Always vigilant and willing to do good for the puppies,
Riesen Stern will be for ever remembered with you,
Under the cherry blossom branches of the castle.
Counting your bravery and wisdom will be our blessing,
Each day will be a new day when we wake with you in our hearts.

Sewing and Needlework

One of my aunts said that I could be dwelling on
my needlework and that I did not have to sew things;
I was doing embroidery, while she had been mostly
engaged in sewing.

It took me more than 40 years to see her point; I never felt
like sewing anything when faced with the death of
Aruce the boxer. He developed the malignant tumour,
which they firstly found in the chest of the dog.
In other words, it was rather too late when they found
the outburt of the tumour. He had been at the training
school for police dogs. If they had noticed the symptom,
aruce might have survived and did not die.

He was not my dog and I have never seen him face to face,
but he had been something special.
He had been important to almost anyone who loves boxer.

While dwelling on aruce, I worked on the woolen cross-stitch pieces.

The Big Bird

d0112879_135452.jpg
I've been sewing the dresses and waistcoats
so that I could finsh the homework of my sewing class.
For the last two years I was not a good student. This year
I try to work so that I could sew as many things as possible.
However this has prevented me from writing the fiction.
Today I tried to adjust myself to this dilemma i.e.
to make myself happy by working on the fiction or
on sewing tasks by pondering about these two options
while cross-stitching a brown bird with flowers on its tail.

Setting them right---alright!?

At the end of last month I thought I was done
with the two unlined waistcoats.

But they never looked alright.
Why? Because they were supposed to have tails on the back!
So I've set them right by spllitting the back into tails!?
Here they are!

I firstly planned to have violets embroidered, but I've got
forget-me-nots instead!?

At last I completed the coat of the Butterflies in the Golden Dream.
d0112879_1375685.jpg
d0112879_138119.jpg

At the advice of my Finnish friend I could manage to finish the coat
last night; he told me to use silk thread for the silk material.
It worked out!

I need to attend some more on the back of the cloth, but
that would not annoy nor bother me at all, compared with
the struggles I had to go through.
Though I cut out the cloth using the pattern I had made,
the sil material is rather a litlle thick and it has needed
a little more extra under the sleevearms.
As long as synthetic cloth is concerned, it goes without
minding how the back cloth affects the front sides.

You might see the difference in the details too.
