On the way

Yesterday I finally managed to finish the Korean patch work,
which looks like a stained glass.
I put the pieces into one.

I put it between the window, which was a cut-out square
of the two sheets. I glued the sheets and sandwiched
between the two volumes of books.

Without Mrs Maeda this had not been made possible.
She gave me oranges, too.

blackwork

These days I've started to go to Veloce next to the station,
for there I might meet Mr Hirata who loves reading books;
I do respect him for he thinks for himself. We talk about
religion, politics and books.

The other day he said that St. Augustinus says that God's
work coule be like embroidery: its surface and its back are
different. I referred to blackwork, which is said to be originated
in the Arabic world.d0112879_2114560.jpg

We talked about no worshipping of icons.

Christms Presents

They say "Dont peek in it until Christmas," or "Don't open it until
Christmas!" But sometimes they do say, "Open it up!"

These are the presents I've got so far before Christmas!

Kafka On The Shore(ita.)

Finally I've got some time to indulge myself in reading.
These are the first few books I've read after I finished
the translation; it has to be checked and I'll need to
concentrate again.

I took these books out from my library, but I'd like to read
Kafka On The Shore again.
In this book the hero is supposed to sleep with his mother,
which he says "his mother" is his mother as long as it runs as
hypothesis. so, he sounds like Oedipus.
But then he is supposed to sleep with his sister.
IS this designed to work as a variation?
I have no idea.
According to the author, Kafka literally means "raven"
in Czech. The hero as raven pecks the eyes of his supposedly
father in limbo.

From the mouth of Nakata-san came out the white serpentine
thing, which I felt dream or nightmare maker and fabricator
that was to doom the fates of those living.
Nakata-san, who used to speak with cats and selfclaims
having killed the cat killer that is supposed to be the hero's
father.
If myth could be any collection of dreams,
the very Oedipal myth could be another code for what?!
This is a thing that has ben on my mind.

There in the novel Ohshima-san is another mystery or
the figure that haunts me after reading the novel.
He/She could be a sphinx.
Ohshima-san looks like a man; he dresses as man,
but he is officially registered as female, who has flat chest;
who has a vagina but is gay.
I wondered if Ohshima-san could be born with both sexes.

I've been feeling that Sigsmund Freud gave too much import
into the Oedipus complex. The revelation is manifest in the
act that Oedipus makes himself blind; since he knew the
truth, he does not have to have his eyes to see as well as
the fact he has seen too much. Here few would deny
the implication and hint one might subconsciouly have,
so to speak, the metaphor of eye as truth revelation.

There is much more to talk about these things, though.

Beans & Beanstalk

Yesterday I had an appointment with a friend of mine.
She said we were to meet at Mame no Ki.
I thought it was a coffee shop where we had been before;
it was about a few years ago and I was not that sure but
I went over there. Here it is!?

However, it said "Beans" and not "Beanstalk."
So, I called her to ask if this was what she had meant.
It wasn't; she said "Everyone who lives in Saitama should
know what and where Mame no Ki is?!
It's the object you find at the station!"

I did wonder where Jacques or Jack could be.

One of my coffee shops

I used to go over to coffee shops, working on the translation.
Now that I've finished the first translation, I'll have to check
how smooth everything sounds like. I'll have to look up with
Wikipedia and other references to check unfamiliar names of
places and people.

Well, this is one of my favorite coffee shops: KEI.
They serve you excellent cofee, cakes and hot sandwiches.

On the last day of last month, they had two concerts; I went to
the very last one and had a good time.
