Sewing and Needlework

One of my aunts said that I could be dwelling on
my needlework and that I did not have to sew things;
I was doing embroidery, while she had been mostly
engaged in sewing.

It took me more than 40 years to see her point; I never felt
like sewing anything when faced with the death of
Aruce the boxer. He developed the malignant tumour,
which they firstly found in the chest of the dog.
In other words, it was rather too late when they found
the outburt of the tumour. He had been at the training
school for police dogs. If they had noticed the symptom,
aruce might have survived and did not die.

He was not my dog and I have never seen him face to face,
but he had been something special.
He had been important to almost anyone who loves boxer.

While dwelling on aruce, I worked on the woolen cross-stitch pieces.

The Big Bird

d0112879_135452.jpg
I've been sewing the dresses and waistcoats
so that I could finsh the homework of my sewing class.
For the last two years I was not a good student. This year
I try to work so that I could sew as many things as possible.
However this has prevented me from writing the fiction.
Today I tried to adjust myself to this dilemma i.e.
to make myself happy by working on the fiction or
on sewing tasks by pondering about these two options
while cross-stitching a brown bird with flowers on its tail.

It's geeting cool now

For these few days it has been less hot than it used to be.
I feel it's getting cool, but I still have got the cooler on at my place.
When I turn it off, I feel it is still humid.

When it gets cooler or cold, I think I'd like to start another project,
though I've still got a parasol kit to finish at hand.

This is the kit I've got.

Inside are the materials I'm going to use:

To get along with these yarns I need the guiding map for them:

When I'm patient enough to finish and complete,
the product I'm going to have would loook like this:

The little cover for the handle top did not do a good job;
it easily fell down.

So, I've made a proper one.

The Parasol

d0112879_21145374.jpg
d0112879_2115779.jpg

At last I completed the making of the parasol.
It took rather too many hours.

I never thought I would make a parasol by using a used umbrella.
It was Mrs M's idea.
She said she or we should ask the instructor to make it,
but I told her she was asking too much of her; Mrs M tends to
ask people to do things, but to me she seems to have people
under her thumb. I could never appreciate this.
So, I volunteered.

Later, while trying to make a parasol, I started regretting
my volunteering what I was supposed to do.

Finally I've made and realized this project is not
a good idea as it seemed.
The used umbrella had plastic material to cover the frame.
This means the metal frame is rather light and not strong
enough for cotton cloth.
This consequently means that one would do a much better
job if one used a new metal frame, which is meant to be
produced for a parasol of your own to make.

What am I going to do?
I'm going to check the size of the parasol frame
that I saw at my department store.
If the size fits or simply goes with the one I made for
the used umbrella, I'll take away the one I've attached
onto the used frame and reattach it onto the new frame.
That is what I am going to do.

Almost finished?!

Now I only have to make a parasol bag
to carry along.

Yesterday I attached the cloth onto the metal frame.

Here come the puppies, their mother and aruce-kun.

The doggie button is made of wood.
I have doggie shell buttons as well, but this wooden button
seems to look nicer with the images.

As you may notice, I've added the lace on the box area
where I smudged the image of Duel and Hart.

Work in Progress

I've been trying to make a parasol.
I made presents by embroidering for aruce-san;
I embroidered and made kitachen mittens;
so far I've embroidered from A to C in capital letters.
geboren. Last November Riesen Stern Boxer had
new five puppies and their names start with D, as
usual with puppy blood lines go.

I've copied and tried to transfer the puppies' images.
Last night I was busy trying to iron the images and
transfer them onto the cloth of parasol.

I smudged; I was absebnt-minded and put the piece
upside down?! I tried to take it off from the cloth but
it did not come off. I tried to cover it by the same cloth.
This is what I've got:

If I was careful, this was what I was supposed to get.
d0112879_1322162.jpg

I was watching the programme featuring the anniversary of
atomic bombing over Nagasaki.
A lady, who was 24 years old, had the picture of the St Mary
with all the damages done. The lady said she felt she was
hurt in the same way as St Mary was, but that St Mary was
innocent.

"So were you!," I said to myself.

Shall I tell the grandfather of my nephew what went wrong
with my ironing? He is a surviver of atomic bomb in Hiroshima.
On 6th I visited him at his hospital but had no chance to
talk about atomic bombings.
